-Bavaria is a state on the southeastern border of Germany.
-The Bavarian Alps are located in the southern part of the state.

-Bavaria's largest city is Munich. Munich is Germany's third largest city. Other major cities of Bavaria are Nuremberg, Ausburg and Regensburg.
-Bavaria consists of high plateaus and medium height mountains. People generally deal with agriculture and animal husbandry.

-Garmisch-Partenkirchen is the most popular town in Bavaria. It is actually two separate towns, Garmisch and Partenkirchen. These towns separate the railroad.

-Hotel and hostel prices in Garmisch-Partenkirchen town are very convenient
-A Turkish operated Ludwigshof Hostel is 30 Euros.
-Address: Ludwigsstrase 88, 82467 Garmisch-Partenkirchen
-Phone: 0049 8821 2703 - www.ludwigshof-gap.de

-Garmisch-Partenkirchen is an outdoors sports center with activities such as rock climbing, mountaineering, rock climbing, paragliding, trekking, cycling, etc in the summer, and all winter sports, especially skiing in the winter.

-The town is quite developed. Apart from all kinds of sports and mountaineering materials, there are shops and shopping centers to cover all your needs.

-In the town, dinner time is around 7 o'clock. After 10 o'clock, the town is silent. If you pass this time, you will have difficulty finding an open restaurant.

-There are many Turks in town. Most common professions for Turkish Bavarians are operating Gyro/Doner restaurants, B & Bs (Bed and Breakfast) and driving cabs. Chatting with them, and getting information from them can help you learn the town more quickly.

-You can climb Germany's highest mountain Zugspitse (height of 2,692 meters) from the Town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. However, this summit is not very popular for mountaineers, even though it looks challenging, since a mountain train can take you from the town to the summit of Zugspitse.

Climbing Alpspitze

-Alpspitze is the preferred peak for mountaineers who come to the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The 2628 meter high summit is the most popular summit of the Bavarian Alps.

-The first climb was made by J. Burger in 1825, on the eastern back of the mountain.

-Alpspitze has many different routes to climb. The most technical of these routes is the north wall.

-The general departure center for climbing the north and east routes is the Osterfelderkopf mountain house at 2030 meters. Northern wall and the east-back route can be accessed from Osterfelderkopf which can be reached from the Garmisch-Partenkirchen via a cable car.

-Another pass on the east back road is from the Kreuzeck area. The 1651 meter zone can also be reached by cable car from the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

-The distance to the cable car area from Garmisch-Partenkirchen is 4 km. So the bus should be preferred. The cable car area from the town takes 15 minutes. Taxi price is 11 Euros and bus price is 1.5 Euros.

-It takes 10 minutes between Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Kreuzeck by cable car, and round-trip is 20 Euros.

-The climb starting from Kreuzeck with the cable car at the height of 1651 meters continues from the Hoch Alm mountain house with a simple walk all the way to the mass that is the extention of the northern wall. This mass of 150 meters is secured with iron ropes to increase its safety for the mountaineers. This track requires 4+ rock climbing.

-At the end of the route there is the Bernadeinspitze Summit on the eastern route of Alpspitze Mountain. This summit is easily accessible and there is a route that can be reached without rock climbing.

-At the end of the rock climbing, the eastern face of Alpspitze Mountain can be seen easily. After this, the eastern route which requires a simple rock climbing is the easiest route.

-Eastern back is the route used by climbers climbing from Osterfelderkopf. From the Osterfelderkopf you can cross the eastern ridge by making a side transition from the north wall of the mountain. It is imperative to use a safety belt in this side pass.

-Climbing can be done from the bottom instead of the eastern back. This surface of the mountain is made up of small, slippery stones. That's why it is pretty gruelling.

-Following the Eastern ridge from Kreuzeck at a height of 1651 meters, the climb is completed in 3 hours under normal conditions. There are simple rock climbing tracks during the climb. However, this is also secured with steel ropes.

-I reached the summit in 2 hours 30 minutes.

-The Alpspitze summit is 2628 meters high. The summit is quite crowded due to mountain climbers coming from the East Ridge, the East Wall, the Eastern Wall and the North Wall.

-It is easier and safer to make the descent from routes made up of small stones. Then you have to descend 150 meters of rock mass very carefully, since the route is wet and the accident risk is high.

-Total descent time is 1 hour 30 minutes. After arriving Hoch Alm, drinking beer at the mountain house and having a wonderful ‘goulash meat’ dinner is a great pleasure.
-At the end of your meal, the biggest prize of climbing is sunbathing on the sun loungers with German beer in your hand.
